PRETTY BOY
Based on my personal experiences as a transgender and queer person, my work deals with
themes of gender and queerness, the body, and personal expression. I also explore pattern and clothing as a means to explore expression and concealing of the body. I do this through mixed media pieces that include embroidery, quilting, and aplique as well as painting, drawing, and other
objects.

Using these mediums, I juxtapose the traditionally heavily gendered hand crafts like quilting, sewing, and embroidery with explorations of queer masculinity and androgyny. In my work, I like to walk the line between fine art and craft.
